Artist Statement
My practice is a labor of love – a passion from early childhood. Though I have experience as a fine artist among mediums such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencil & oil pastel, I enjoy the manual processes involved in traditional printmaking methods. I have an affinity for all forms, but primarily work in relief. During the design stage of projects, I like to get lost in research. I archive and draw upon a wide range of references, giving equal care to visual and conceptual elements. My pieces are deeply inspired by history, particularly premodern literature + ancient handicrafts. I began making zines to lend shape to personal notions that don’t get expressed through my more formal studio endeavors. I feel lucky to be able to share my creations; they serve as a means for me to connect with the world around me, both past and present.
